WHAT DOES THE NEW NIGER DELTA MILITANT GROUP REALLY WANT?
It is not because i went through the nation's appropriation bill and saw the amount budgeted for amnesty programme for militancy in the Niger delta or the NDDC ministry that I wrote this but because I know that there's no sense in blowing up pipelines and causing economic chaos for Nigeria.
Why are you destroying oil installations? Why can't you blame your governors if it has to do with dividends of democracy? These are your main enemy not the federal government. At least, you have Niger delta ministry, you have amnesty programme, you have special federal allocation, your people that go to school and perform excellently are given special scholarship, there's federal government step to clean up your environment, there's a court case instituted by pmb to get your people paid by the multinationals due to environmental degradation but now you are adding to the oil spill. How can the government win such case for your people?
It is expedient that everyone of you Knows that you are pushing the nation to the wall! Let's assume you have autonomy of bombing pipelines in your area, why threaten to extend it to the southwest storage? Know that in the 21st century now, oil reserves are being discovered round the nation even on desert. It would only take time for your threat to lose relevance as other region are not sleeping to be an oil producer just like production has started in Lagos recently and would be joined by dangote's refinery soonest.
What do you really want? Are you doing this because of the excesses of the Fulani herdsmen carnage? That has been under control based on our collective agitation and we should trust that the government is putting lasting solution to it.
By now, I want to believe that we have all gotten an appreciable level of exposure and education so, I wouldn't say illiteracy is your problem but greed and spiritual blindness. Whether anyone care, presently, we are Nigerians and anyone caught would be dealt with under Nigeria's law and order not Niger delta law, not Biafra law, not arewa law and not oduduwa law.
If you seek for better treatment, I think the government is doing it's best based on all the special packages for your region and I would advice that you don't destroy the future of many unborn generation of the Niger delta. If its resource control you want, I pray God that you will achieve it but not by blood letting and destruction of national assets. I strongly believe you would achieve resource control with the power of pen and paper, what you need is to work collectively under the umbrella of the NDDC without destructive protest and agitation.
On the part of the government which you also have your people, its better you front the agitation for the implementation of the last report on sovereign national conference referendum organised by the gej administration and before you discovered, other regions would join you or you request the support of other region towards your goal with peace and not violence bombing.
We can achieve a lot without destroying our nations assets especially now that from all indication no one is threatening your people with violence or blood letting.
To me, I believe the NDDC administrative instrument should be totally exhausted in ensuring that you achieve your cause but what do you want?
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
God bless Nigerians!!
