PRESIDENT MOHAMMADU BUHARI: ARE YOU REALLY A FARMER?

From all indications, the route to Nigeria's economic liberation is agriculture not oil, judging by the present economic quagmire that has bedevilled us as a Nation and the continued persistence of global crush of the Brent crude price leading to eye boggling debt on our government from federal to state and just recently, local government. No doubt, the multiplier effect of abysmal governmental approach to governance is written all over the faces of our people. Many homes have been left cash-less as a result of failure of government to pay salaries and many bread winners have been turned jobless. Small business owners have gone broke and big business owners have turned loan defaulters. Every where in Nigeria, many families are crying and many institutions especially private institutions are at the vague of folding up. There is wide spread gnashing of teeth on the pain of the failure of our government. Whilst we are all in this government's wrong turn together, the sta

ABYSMAL HEALTHCARE SYSTEM IN NIGERIA

NB:This piece was written 2months ago Some hours ago at about 10:25pm, 7th March, 2015 around Ijegun in Ikotun, Lagos, while driving along the Ijegun road, right in front of me, lets say 20m away, I saw a man being knocked down by a tricycle. Immediately after the accident I manoeuvred my way in order not to be caught in the rowdy scene I perceived would ensued but when I looked at my rear mirror I noticed that many people around the place avoided moving close to the victim of the accident. To my greatest surprise the driver of the tricycle parked and rushed down while screaming and praying at the same time that God should save him from an act of murder. With sympathy and pity, I reversed my car close to the scene of the accident, park very well and alighted to see what help I could offer considering the fact that everyone was being careful to avoid unforeseen trouble. I moved closed to the victim right at the centre of the road, checked his pulse by his neck t

NIGERIA: A NATION LEAD BY GREEDY FOES.

I am never surprised that we are in the present economic verbose as a Nation. Not too big a word to qualify the present economic quagmire we are witnessing. We ought to have experienced this in 2011 had pgej lost that election because as at then, the treasury was also emptied but because of the electoral sympathy of a shoeless person, he emerged victorious and the ever inevitable shame was covered in preparation for now. As at March 2011, the then minister of works stated succinctly that the Nation was broke to embark on any capital project. The reserves from 52billion dollars then was left with 300million dollars less than a month to election but no one cares to listen. Now in 2015, less than 3weeks to handing over, we have started experiencing the pain we escaped in 2011 due to bad spending. This attitude of bad spending without saving cum broke nation was the reason behind the subsidy removal in January 1st 2012 in order for the govt of the day to recoop wasted funds in or

WHAT IF NO JAJA?

The lackadaisical attitudes of health personnel in jaja clinic, University of Ibadan by now ought to have been thoroughly checked. Many among us have one or two story to share about Jaja clinic but the present situation in Jaja can be linked directly or indirectly to the National problem generally and the fear among everyone that" ah! may he or she not die on my hand. I cant write statement o!" In 2010, a friend died in jaja with similar experience. He slumpped on the field but died either while on d way to jaja or in jaja, no one can say succinctly. Another astmatic patient too died in 2007 in similar fashion. A close friend of mine was almost becoming a victim in 2009 when we went to jaja for complains and immediately they started their act of where is your jaja card, what is your jaja number. Some drugs are not free, I immediately drove him out of the university to a private clinic off campus for better treatment. And at the end, a life was saved. Without jaja,

NO VICTOR NO VANQUISH

NO VICTOR NO VANQUISH My mum always say to me in the course of my growing up as her only son in the midst of her four daughters, my sisters, that: In life, you can not have or achieve everything but that which you desire can be achieved even more when you are contented. Therefore, So far, in my short sojourn in life, contentment has been my guiding principle. Everything i do in my life i always prepare my mind with the end at heart in that, whatever comes out i take in good faith. Since the beginning of the political campaigns for 2015 general election, the moment i have always wished and desire to come to pass is a moment of an assured feeling of relief that the future is finally clear without being blurred collectively for every Nigerians once we have a leader that can take the bull by the horn and sail this ship of state called Nigeria in the right direction. This to me was achieved the day General Mohammed Buhari, GCFR was declared the winner of the 2015 Presid

APC's VICTORY: THE NEED FOR AN ENCOMPASSING AND EMBRASING POLITICAL DISPENSATION.

APC's VICTORY: THE NEED FOR AN ENCOMPASSING AND EMBRASING POLITICAL DISPENSATION. If we don't want an opposition politics the consequence won't pay us as a Nation. What befell PDP was just a mentality of winner takes all and that doesn't make much sense in politics. I learned a lot from Professor Nnoli's definition of politics that: politics is the seizure of state power, the consolidation of state power and the use of state power. In the 16yrs of APC and PDP rule in lagos and Abuja respectively, both parties have refused to consolidate state power but rather enjoys massively it's uses after successful seizure and that was the reason we had exodus of politicians cross-carpeting between the two big parties without any clear cut political ideology for the over all benefit of the electorates. In any political structures after election, I believe strongly that the winner should consolidate on his or her electoral success by incorporating reasonabl

A CLARION CALL TO JOBLESS NIGERIAN GRADUATES STILL ROAMING THE STREETS OF THEIR ALMA MATTER.

A CLARION CALL TO JOBLESS NIGERIAN GRADUATES STILL ROAMING THE STREETS OF THEIR ALMA MATTER. I understand that the economy of the country so far, has not been palatable and helpful for most graduates to make head way in life. This has been the reason why some have decided to make the idea of following politician around or roaming the streets within University of Ibadan, a job. Some graduates used their political romance with politicians to secure meaningful job while some use it to secure political appointment. To those set of people that secure a genuine job through political romance or bootlicking, we can term them smart and determined not just to be used by politicians. Among the smart group of people, some behave foolishly even though they pretend to be classy by fronting political and social agitation plus students/politicians financial negotiation, though they front more for their pocket yet they pretend not to be gaining anything financially. I think its

A LESSON LEARNED FROM AN ADULT POLITICIAN

A LESSON LEARNED FROM AN ADULT POLITICIAN As the welfare secretary of the Students Union Transition Committee, University of Ibadan in 2008 under the able leadership of Raimi Oluwadamilare as the Chairman, we were approached by NANS to organise a personality public Lecture in which Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe would be the guest speaker. The Chairman chose me to liaise with them and be the front man for the Union while i traveled down with them to the senator's house in Lagos. O n getting to the senator's house, we were accorded much respect as uites. I guess the senator knew the NANS representative very well with the way they interacted. With much talk we concluded and stood up to go and a most astonishing thing transpired.  Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe sought my attention and said '''iwo! sora fun awon won yi o! fi oju si iwe re ki osi fi iwon si ohun ti e nse nitori awon eleyi ti lo igba ti won tan o" meaning; you! be very careful with these o

THE DISGRACE OF RADICAL BROTHER IN TEDDER HALL UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN OF ON 15TH THURSDAY,JANUARY 2015.

OUR TAKE IN THE STAMPEDE AND IN TOTAL REJECTION OF THE PRESENCE OF RADICAL BROTHER IN TEDDER HALL The attention of the conscious layers of studentry and especially that of the DSM comrades has been called to the recent post on the union Facebook page on how Hon. Segun Olaleye was rejected from campaigning and distributing APC flyers within Tedder hall on the night of Thursday 15th of January, 2015. It is important to clear the air that DSM comrades did not only mobilise their friends and floor- mates at B Block in Tedder hall against the presence of Hon. Segun Olaleye (Radical Brother) but importantly use that medium to popularize our age long campaign slogan to chase all political thieving elites out of power geared towards a total overthrow of the capitalist system and in an immediate formation a working class government. However, with the event of last Thursday night, we want to sincerely appreciate bravery and salute the courage of Tedderites who openly stampede

IMPLICATIONS OF ELECTORAL VIOLENCE

IMPLICATIONS OF ELECTION VIOLENCE In 2007, a young boy that graduated from Lagos State University, Ojoo Lagos was recruited as a member of a political thug in Ibadan being a strong member of an association during his University days. This is a boy that have spent close to 5years preparing to go and face the labour market with the hope of securing a good job in order for his future and that of his family be secured especially his mum and dad. But unfortunately, he ended up as a ... political thug probably in the interim to make ends meet. To cut a long story short, on the election day, himself with his group went all out brandishing dangerous weapons in solidarity to the interest of their political Godfather. Information has it that everyone of the group was given 5thousand naira each as the benefit for the assignment at hand. During the political struggle, this young man was short dead after the whole issue. His group brought him to the home of the political father to show th

A FAILED GENERATIONS OF YOUTH. WHERE ARE WE HEADING TO?

A FAILED GENERATIONS OF YOUTH. WHERE ARE WE HEADING TO? Radical Brother, Hon. Olusegun Olaleye, presently representing Ibdan North Constituency, after several years of graduation from UI and bootlicking the feet of politicians all around oyo state and Nigeria without meaningful job or creating one for himself and others to better their lot, except moving with NANS train as an old cargo student, ends up in oyo state house of Assembly, representing the interest of Ibadan North indigenes as a whole. No work or entrepreneurial experience or what have you yet he's standing as a politician today. Now several other youths have taken the same part as radical brother, towing the same line but they would want to hide that they are studying at masters level or Ph.D. and as such they are still student... continue deceiving yourselves!!! Like play like play, Dapo Lam without any administrative experience, emerged a two times commissioner by virtue of his opportune father's political i

SHARING NIGERIA'S POLITICAL POWER

SHARING NIGERIA'S POLITICAL POWER In Nigeria political power belongs to Abuja and Lagos. Presently, PDP own that of Abuja while APC own that of lagos and both parties have spent 16years each at each locations. APC tried in lagos with draconian approach and some level of development but sincerely we are not satisfied as a people because we are not animal. We don't like elitist policies and nepotism and discremination again!! We want a Nigeria and lagos where we will respect ou r peculiarity as a nation and not come with European or American policies to rule or lead us. Even APC is not totally free of corruption and embezzlement. Also, at the central, samething applies to PDP but PDP is extremely corrupt!!!!.  So, the issue now is that both party are greedy with group of greedy people.. PDP want both Abuja and Lagos and APC too want both Abuja and Lagos. Are these people normal? Where's the value of "let go"? Obviously we all need cha

FACEBOOK'S ELECTORAL POWER

Some people love abusing those of us playing politics on facebook not knowing that facebook is bigger than Nigeria in terms of population, communication and the financial strength.  presently, facebook has over a billion members whereas Nigeria is estimated 170millon people even though theres no statistics to determine how many nigerians are on facebook but if we consider the fact that over 100million Nigerians use mobile phones and since 112million Nigerians are adjudged poor by NBS,2014, we can conclude that the remaining rich nigerians who are about 70million are on facebook using smart phones and other gadgets. Therefore, since registered voters are 68.8million and people with voters cards are 38.7million considering that facebook is worth over $30billion dollars whereas Nigeria is less than $10billion dollars worth, no one should underestimate the significant strength of facebook political content as an advantage to determine the success of an individua

MY PERCEPTION AND EXPECTATIONS FROM PGEJ'S ADMINISTRATION; OF TRUTH OR HATRED?

In 2010, a particular publication of TELL MAGAZINE was filled with the achievement of General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida during campaign in preparation for 2011 presidential election. While reading through those achievements, my mouth was widely open such that it took me long to realise that I was opening my mouth while reading IBB's achievements in office. But it occur to me that his achievements can't match his abysmality "corruption" which during his regime, was internationalized and gave Nigeria a bad name till date. This conviction lead to the creation of the facebook page" no to IBB presidential ambition" and the campaign was so tensed then and still in the heart of those that knew and every other Nigerians that we can't accept IBB as President. Today, we have seen a man not even close to the achievement of IBB but share the same abysmality with IBB "corruption". I must say this one is a corruption Caesar. Yet he Is bent
