AN OPEN LETTER TO THE VICE CHANCELLOR, UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN,PROFESSOR ABEL IDOWU OLAYINKA. PROFFERING A LASTING SOLUTION TO WATER PROBLEM IN ZIK HALL,UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN.

Let me seize this opportunity to say that uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. As such, a leader at all time, must be ready to face all challenges at his disposal. Vice Chancellor Sir, once again, congratulations on the success of the just concluded 69th convocation lecture, ceremonies cum foundation day celebration. I must say, you and your team did excellently well and I pray such fit is broken in the subsequent convocation come 2018. The memory to me, will forever linger on especially that I shook your hand and I was declared worthy in character and learning for the second time, now, a masters degree holder. In order not to digress, let me go straight to the reason behind this write-up. Zik Hall, one of the most populous and the biggest undergraduate hostel in the University of Ibadan is presently facing a daunting problem of water scarcity. To the best of my knowledge, it is a reoccurring problem every dry season. Which inadvertently means that, it's either the borehol

MARRIAGE AND CRASS STRUGGLE FOR MATERIALISM IN OUR SOCIETY.

Marital decision and journey should be a personal affair not parents or extended family affairs. Not that they don't have their own little moral contribution but it's rare as the major contributions family and in-laws would appreciate is to be a thin god in your marriage, especially, your mother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and your sisters in most dangerous scenarios. This external influences in marriage should be a topic on its own for deliberations. Vast different bitter experience from different people but they won't share for others to learn from. Personally, my mums influence over my marriage is zero tolerance from my side including my in-laws, same as that of my sisters and extended families and friends. My cross is mine not anyone so, we should carry it the way and manner we know best bearing in mind that you alone know where the pain emanates from. Marriage is not the ceremony but the real you and you you end up sleeping and waking up on the same bed, eve

NIGERIA NEEDS NO LOAN FOR DEVELOPMENT. THERE'S ENOUGH FUNDS FROM WITHIN.

I stand to be corrected, a nation such as Nigeria needs no borrowing to finance project. I'm convinced about this. Let's take road project for example, if not hypocrisy and deceit, revenue from ministry of transportation alone is enough for road construction. What sense is in we as a nation having to do with road union on our roads if we believe in integrity of labour? To me, we do not have a serious government yet. NURTW, RTEAN and other related associations connected to transportation in Nigeria should be  cancelled, null, abolished and void to exist. Talk of power generation, revenue from power distribution to other African countries including sales of gas is enough to shape energy problem in Nigeria  plus placing ban on generator importation. Take health for example, the revenue in all government hospitals is enough to reshape our health sector but overfed civil servants with private businesses end up stealing to finance their private businesses. Talk of education, espe

CONTINUED EXISTENCE OF ROAD UNIONS ON OUR ROADS IS AN INDICATOR OF THE LACK OF SERIOUSNESS ON THE PART OF OUR GOVERNMENT AND EVIDENCE OF A GOVERNMENT THAT ABATE CRIME.

Before referendum, before my plans for the Nigerian dream, if I were the president, in less than a minute of of my inaugural speech, I would change the course of direction of Nigeria as follows: 1. All road transport union shall be cancelled, repelled, expunged and abolished e.g NURTW and RTEAN nationwide through appropriate legal means. REASONS: 1.Their activities over decades in our society have only succeeded in building societal nuisances and illegality from the billions they raked in daily forcefully from innocent Nigerians. 2. They have contributed no form of development to Nigerian roads. 3. They have contributed to the continued dwindling of farm labour in the interior villages and increasing number of road union hoodlums in the urban area. 4. They are ready tools for political thuggery, killing and maiming of innocent lives during election. STEPS TOWARDS ENSURING THE JUDICIOUS HARNESSING OF TRANSPORT REVENUE TOWARDS NATION BUILDING: 1. There should be a synergy betwee

IF I WERE BUHARI

let me start by saying I had been wrong in some assertions bothering on the need to get the presidents office renovated. I succumb to my conscience nag against my thinking and I accept that, if I were buhari, I should have been dead by now. May Buhari's life be prolonged in Jesus name. After careful underground findings through readings of different public take on the perceived utter public disrespect exhibited by the presidency, I found out that a lot on buharis health was bound to be hidden from us for security reasons. It goes beyond being open to the populace as a public figure. It's a pity, many in the presidency are more desperate than the president himself for power. Personally, I believed that the president had been spiritually and physically attacked and bartered but God had speared his life for a purpose. I do not want to name names but when I juxtaposed claims of some personalities and clergy men in the society, I kind of wondered that the presidential security d

THE LAW SCHOOL RESPONSE TO KBELLO'S INTERVIEW: AN OCEAN OF LIES,PROPAGANDA AND PENCHANT FOR IMAGE DESTRUCTION.

Hmmmmm! After reading through the response of the Abuja branch of Nigeria law school, I was more confused than ever on my faith over the legal institution in Nigeria. It was a master crafted propaganda and lies, enmeshed in cover-up and an intolerable disposition towards opposition. They were hell bent on nailing him by referring to past issues in University of Ibadan all through their response. OK, let us assume that kbello wielded a rod truly, did he use it on anyone? Who were the people there to testify the approach used by the law school on him, that warranted him to want to defend himself? I could remember in 2010 when I went to a church off campus to arrest a thief that stole laptop in Tedder Hall,  alongside other tedderites, I was bundled like an armed robber, tossed around like a ball by the church security operatives and at the end, the Church authority still end up reporting us to the university authority that I led a group of armed student to disrupt the Church service

APPROACH TO CONQUERING POVERTY IN NIGERIA.

Let me share some scenario on how we can conquer poverty in this country. 1. Education: Every aspect of our society needs education, the home, religious organisations, government institutions and agencies. What kind of education do we need? We need more of informal education than formal education. Many of our people are academically sound but lacking in informal exposure. Our people need morals. Our people need sound social interaction, values and embracement of our cultural heritage. Our people need a lot of reorientation and be told the truth through various government orientation agencies. 2. Government societal closeness: Our political leaders are far away from our people. An average political representative in local government, house of assembly, reps, senator etc does not know what's happening in his constituency. 3. Entitlement Mentality: This is not related to demanding our right from government. We all have the right to demand dividends of democracy. The entitlement men

EVANS AND OUR HUMAN VALUE SYSTEM

God will not change people's condition until they change their value system. On Evans and his likes head lie several chieftaincy titles given by traditional leaders without knowing his source of income. Around him flocked several women without knowing what he does for a living. Upon his head lie several prayers made by MOG who never heard from the Holy Spirit about who he is. This is how depraved we have become as a society. If not for his arrest, he is capable of sponsoring three governors to win next election. We all jubilated at his arrest, however, we helped in his elevation. His neighbours locked up their houses and never bothered to find out who he is... Sat with him probably at Community Monthly Meetings. The Church he attends with his family must have celebrated the "goodness"of God upon his life. Probably acknowledged him as a tither without knowing what he does for a living. Nigeria ambassadors attended his philanthropic projects in Ghana without questioning

LAGOS FLOOD, DRAINAGE CHANNELIZATION AND POLITICS.

Everyone is shouting vi and lekki flood as if its not every part of lagos that is always flooded. The issue is the failure of government and not the people. political desperation and thuggery is too much in lagos and its affecting every facet of the state. Theres law n it should be applied with equality. The people shouldnt be painted as deviant anymore because  works by the govt is not conmensurate with the state revenue. How can lagos fight flood successfully n sincerely with commitment? I grew up in ikeja so,let me use ikeja as a case study because during heavy down pour, ikeja is always flooded. The lg has two main canals/valleys,the one connecting the whole of adekunle from adeniyi  jones to aromire, allen, secretariat, oregun, ojota  and maryland. The second canal  connects the central ikeja  of toyin street n environs, police barrack, custom training ground, gra, onigbongbo, mende, sheraton and connected to the other canal at ojota koto bridge linking maryland and ojota on ikorodu road.

YOUTH EDUCATION AND MENTORING: LINK TOWARDS ACHIEVING NATIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT THROUGH SOUND POLITICAL PARTICIPATION.

An excerpts from my whatssap handle's political group" AGODI AGENDA,2019!" This is perhaps one of the few countries where we make so much noise about youth participation in politics. Not that there is anything wrong 👎 with that. By all means they should be encouraged so as to acquire knowledge, experience and exposure and prepare themselves for  leadership. In this country today, it is  the youths of yester years that are responsible for the mess we are in today. Between 1960 and 1966 when some self educated men were the leaders, we were making progress. Even after the war, guided by older and experienced civil servants, we still  made remarkable progress until 1975.  From then the story of Nigeria changed. Cheek out all the players in Nigeria's leadership from independence, whether in the military  or civil service,  they were youths ,and large percentage of our political, religious, economic, educational and social leaders are youths going by the age definition.

LAGOS: OF POLITICAL THUGS,OPPORTUNIST POLITICAL ELITES,INNOCENT MASSES AND LAWLESSNESS. "TEMPLATE FOR LEADERSHIP IN NIGERIA"

The man dies in him that keeps qiet in the face of injustice.-Professor Wole Soyinka. Governance in lagos is between two sets of people: opportunist political elites and opportunist political thugs. Every other person is their slave, all masses on the streets and within the state. Same situation exists all over the federation and this has to stop!! Have you asked yourself why some illiterate thugs exist in kai and Lastma, placed on the road by the opportunist political elites to be harassing the educated literates and businessmen and women on the road on daily basis? Personally,I know lagos is a lawless state. The law is basically designed to cripple, incapacitate and dismantled the weak. That's the same attribute taken to the central government by the APC led federal government. Every organ of our government is lawless if you take a critically look at happenings in the country in the last two years. From executive to judiciary and legislative, they are all lawless and corrupt. The

ON EVANS AND HIS DENIAL BY ANGLICAN CHURCH IKOSI KETU.

Let me state succinctly that my position on this writeup is not out of hate of any religious organization and if there's any need they would want me arrested to defend my claim,I will gladly own up. This is necessary for us all to get our acts in order by believing in God strictly and not religion. My profile on Facebook is me: Akande Akin Sanyaolu, not any other person. A friend of mine once said on Facebook that we are all hustlers and I agreed with him totally. We should thank God for where we are today but we cannot forget the past,we can only forgive it. Talk of poverty, presently, by NBS data, about 70% of Nigerians are poor and this is not a new thing as it's as equal to the age of the country. The remaining 30% rich Nigerians, definitely, must have tasted poverty one way or the other in their quest for breakthrough in life. I do not want to hold brief for Evans but I know that as a Christian ,we shall know the truth and the truth shall set us free. In fact,no sinner woul

ON WHY OUR NATION'S PROBLEM IS POVERTY.

Image
I wrote an article about poverty as the clog to our national progress, growth and development on Eid Mubarak day. In one of the pages i shared the article, someone commented by first appreciating the article and then posited that our nation's problem isn't poverty but corruption and I responded thus: Poverty breeds corruption my brother. There are different classes of poverty: 1. Spiritual poverty 2. Mental  poverty 3. Physical poverty You can see that they are sequential? This is because they affect one another. The first is determined by our closeness to the supreme being,God. It is connected to our religion,to our moral values at home, religious and traditional values, educational values and respect of oneself. Spiritual poverty is ignited by deceits and hypocrites which make us far from God and be pursuing worldly and earthly gains according to Gal 5:20-25 on the fruits of the spirit, thereby, making us to be spiritually poor leading to mental poverty, greed is thus sprea

POVERTY: THE CLOG ON NIGERIA'S PROGRESS, GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT.

Image
The major problem in Nigeria is poverty. This is the reason many Nigerians want to get wealth at all cost leading to high degree of man inhumanity to man in our society and government. It goes beyond han nature in Nigeria. Think about it: Why do people who have been favoured to be in position where they are saddled with me sing the wealth of the society to better the lot of the people end up stealing? Many families broke away from poverty with pain and anger that they end up venting on the general public. Many in academia rose to academic success through poverty, societal denial and struggle. Many politicians became what they are today through class struggle and poverty. Many business owners became what they are today through tough wrestling with poverty. Many big conglomerates in Nigeria today are owned by people who one way or the other have tasted poverty. Above all, many leaders in Nigeria today have tasted one aspect of poverty and the other. Even many of those who brag to be weal

THAT 100LEVEL BOY EXPELLED UNDER PROF OLAYINKA ABEL IDOWU

To forgive is  divvine, to err is human. I am not one that speaks under the tongue. I believe one must share his mind and be free. I am also not one that go about engaging in public protest either peaceful or not peaceful because i hate gathering of people over a cause whilst few amongst them having dangerous hidden agenda. Permit me to say that ,prof olayinka shares semblance attitude with me 'hard to forgive' but as time goes by,it behoves on one to outgrow such trait as one moves up in status realising that a king without sympathy deserves no honour. This is the challenge being faced by prof olayinka and i pray it doesnt spell doom. As a student leader during my undergraduate days,i had the opportunity to witness several disciplinary cases at the central level, tough ones indeed and i must say that the vc under whose authority i was a leader really had a lot of sympathy when it comes to using his power. For confidentiality sake and respect to my alma mata,i wont share thos

TALKING ABOUT ACADEMICS MERIT FOR POLITICAL LEADERSHIP IN NIGERIA.

Image
Akande, Akin Sanyaolu Before anyone starts abusing me about certificate matter, let me quickly tell you that professionalism too has an attachment in certificate. This is why an electrical electronic graduate in shell or chevron would be a sight manager and an illiterate or school cert elect elect would be field engineer. On my own profession, the certificate matters a lot because an agricultural consultant can't be a school cert holder talk less an applied economist. The argument now is that, not everyone of us will end up searching for job with our certificate but we need experience from professionals. On this note, you need to graduate with good grade and stop hiding under the cover that "who certificate epp?" Working under a company as a fresh graduate sometimes matters a lot even if someone would end up recommending you. For example: immediately I convocated,I was recommended to castle properties Lagos and I had a short period experience in marketing and d

UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN ACADEMICS AND POLITICAL BALANCE: TEMPLATE FOR LEADERSHIP IN NIGERIA.

Image
Akande Akin Sanyaolu Before the University of Ibadan minimum stipulated 3.5 cgpa for one to be involved in politics as a student, the institution had produced thousands of Dino Melaye who contributed into the collapse of the students union, destabilization of the institution calendar, perpetration of cult activities and waste of innocent lives on campus whilst hiding under aluta continua victoria aserta for  their selfiah gain and till date, many of them are contributing to political destruction in Nigeria. Let me use myself as an example: after my 100level,I was on 3.3cgpa and was not allowed to participate in faculty politics because the university stipulated only minimum 3.5cgpa. I was also screened out by the students affairs division from participating in my hostel politics but on recommendation of the warden, I was given an approval based on my service to the hall which was known by all and sundry. At the end ofy 200level I rose to 4.5cgpa which allowed me to participate

EDUCATION: KEY TO NIGERIA'S ECONOMIC LIBERATION.

Image
Akande Akin Sanyaolu Its expedient that graduates are tested academically, medically and practically before given an employment even if its family or business tie recommendation to know the ability and capability of such graduate. In 2012, i was recommeñded for an employment in a consulting firm in lagos and till date the interview and test( both academically and personality assessment), including medical test, are a reference point of the pride of my ability to seek for job if need be ,had it been i end up not being an entrepreneur. A graduate must be able to defend his qualification. Technical work and entrepreneurship is good but it makes a lot of sense that graduates should learn under experienced people first before going to pride himself an entrepreneur. This brings dilligency, humility and worth. I was impressed because the test was a surprise. I was called for an interview and on getting there I was presented with test papers. I think what i learned in this experience

ANTICORRUPTION IS NOT PRIMARY AND KEY TO SUCCESS OF ANY GOVERNMENT BUT PUTTING A FORMIDABLE STRUCTURE IN PLACE, GEARED TOWARDS DEVELOPMENT AND PEOPLE'S WELFARE.

Image
Akande Akin Sanyaolu No government succeeds on suspicion and distrust of past government.- Akande Akin Sanyaolu. Call it University politics,I will tell you that leadership is leadership. Leadership has no category. As the chairman of Tedder Hall University of Ibadan in 2008-2010 and also the Chairman of the students union transition committee,2009/2010, I did not fail because I did not lose focus by venturing into digging through the activities of the past administrations, instead,I rolled out my plans for my constituency for the betterment of Tedderites and uites. Its in my head that I had a year to operate and bring about development and so,there was no time to be suspecting anybody despite some issues on ground but we saw them as irrelevant. A lot of time is needed in unravelling what was done without your knowledge and so,I believe its better to establish a structure down to check the occurrence of past mistake than running after issues of the past. ELECTORAL ACT AMENDMENT BILL,2017.

Image
Nigerias coat of arm Today, the Senate passed the Electoral Act No. 6 2010 (Amendment) Bill 2017 into law. The passage of this Bill in the Senate is a bold, innovative and common sense step on Electoral Reforms designed to guarantee free, fair and credible elections in Nigeria. Without much ado, these are some of the highlights of the Bill: 1. There shall now be full biometric accreditation of voters with Smart Card Readers and/or other technological devices, as INEC may introduce for elections from time to time. 2. Presiding Officers must now instantly transmit accreditation data and results from Polling Units to various collation centers. Presiding officer who contravene this shall be imprisoned for at least 5 years (no option of fine). 3. All Presiding Officer must now first record accreditation data and polling results on INEC’s prescribed forms before transmitting them. The data/result recorded must be the same with what they transmitted. 4. INEC now has unfettere

WHICH WAY FORWARD FOR NIGERIA?

On the way to ibadan from ijebu ode, just finished rescuing accident victim on that tiny bridge close to mamu. To God's glory, I was moved to take a risk into the valley and rushed two young toddler to blessed hospital in oru ijebu with the help of an okada rider and back to give support to the remaining victims which were collectively carried through the valley alongside road safety officials. After this, I went back to oru to pick those two young children to general hospital ijebu ode to join their likely parent amongst the survival. May God bless the doctors at blessed hospital and general hospital ijebu ode. They were wonderful people. Only a young toddler lost his life and another grown up man that was crushed down in the valley. Ijebu ode ibadan express road supposed to be a four lane express way and the signboard at the boundary reads that the work had been done. People should be mindful of the kind of driver driving the commercial bus they boarded for journe
