ACCORD PARTY CANT TAKE THIS,I GUESS?www.tribune.com.ng

The controversy surrounding the Accord Party leadership and the influence of former governor of Oyo State and governorship candidate of the Accord Party in the 2011 election, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, took a fresh dimension as the National Secretary of the party, Dr Samson Isibor, has said that Senator Ladoja cannot contest election on the platform of the Accord Party because he had been expelled about a year ago.
Isibor, who made the disclosure in an exclusive interview with Sunday Tribune, alleged Senator Ladoja of disturbing the party, saying: “There is one man that is disturbing the Accord Party. The man is Rashidi Ladoja... This man came to the Accord Party begging us to offer him a platform to contest the governorship election and we obliged him. We agreed but we knew that he is troublesome.”
Senator Ladoja, it would be recalled, had stated his readiness to build the Accord Party in Oyo State, after his attempt to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) met with opposition from some forces within the PDP. With many people speculating that he could take another shot at the governorship seat, which he occupied within 2003 and 2007, the Accord Party scribe’s statement that Ladoja could not contest on the party’s platform could be said to be a big blow to the party in the state.
According to Isibor, Senator Ladoja had been behind a faction of the party to its detriment, as he “went as far as securing another national secretariat for these people. He arrogated to himself the position of the national leader and founder of the party. When we saw this, we cautioned him to stop but he has continued to use our party to negotiate with the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”
The Accord Party scribe stated that by virtue of Ladoja’s expulsion, he could not contest election on the party’s platform, saying that the party would stand by that action and would take Senator Ladoja to court if he refused abide by the action.
However, when Sunday Tribune contacted Senator Ladoja’s camp for a reaction to Isibor’s statement, Alhaji Lanre Latinwo, said Isibor was not known to the Accord Party and his statement could be taken as trying to advertise himself. “We don’t know him; in fact he is alien to the Accord Party. He is only trying to advertise himself,” Latinwo said.
