NO VICTOR NO VANQUISH
NO VICTOR NO VANQUISH
My mum always say to me in the course of my growing up as her only son in the midst of her four daughters, my sisters, that: In life, you can not have or achieve everything but that which you desire can be achieved even more when you are contented. Therefore, So far, in my short sojourn in life, contentment has been my guiding principle. Everything i do in my life i always prepare my mind with the end at heart in that, whatever comes out i take in good faith.
Since the beginning of the political campaigns for 2015 general election, the moment i have always wished and desire to come to pass is a moment of an assured feeling of relief that the future is finally clear without being blurred collectively for every Nigerians once we have a leader that can take the bull by the horn and sail this ship of state called Nigeria in the right direction. This to me was achieved the day General Mohammed Buhari, GCFR was declared the winner of the 2015 Presidential election. I am of this opinion because i believe that he has all it takes to tackle the only problem i think we have as a Nation and that is corruption.
Corruption has become so endemic in our society even more than any form of diseases and sicknesses. In fact, corruption is the disease of Nigeria and Nigerians and i believe once it is wiped off, we have got every opportunity to thrive successfully as a Nation. So, to me personally, any other election afterwards, in states and local council areas are mere political Jamboree but though are as well important because the head can not function properly without the body and its other parts.
Recounting the various events of the election, one would realized that lives have been lost, injuries of different degrees have been sustained, families have mourned and are still mourning. There have been winners and there have been losers, all in the course of electing our true representatives.
To the families that have lost lives of loved ones either family friend or close relatives, i say to you, you have fought a fight of faith without having to consider if the lost lives were due to political thuggery or accident from warring political groups or interest, either intentional or non-intentional. The most important thing is that, we all as a people must share in your pain and sorrow. And in sharing in your sorrow, i wish and implore the incoming government to take into consideration the need to take an inventory of lives lost such that the families are supported either in cash or kind by way of ensuring that hope is given back to them especially in situations where a bread winner is lost. Above all, may God give the various families the fortitude to bare the lost souls.
To the injured, your struggle is not in vain even though many might have been from the opposition but the beauty of it all is that the incoming Government is a people oriented government. I am sure and convinced of this as a fact. A more encompassing government that will see to the over all collective good of Nigerians. Go home, treat yourselves, settle down and salivate over the good leadership that we will witness from the central government.
To the losers and winners from state to the federal level, i admonish us all to ensue the spirit of sportsmanship as has been exhibited by the out going President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. God bless him real good and abundantly. It is glaring his name has been written in the sands of time. And any day any time, i will continue to appreciate him along side Mama peace, his wife, with her various hilarious jokes and slangs all through their dispensation. I believe we will all miss her and her husband.
As we await a new government to be sworn-in come May 29th, 2015, we should all embrace the fact that campaigns are means to a political administrative end and as such we should try as much as possible not to resent one another with hatred, vengeance, rift and or a wish of failure or destruction. We should from now on pray for successful administration of those that emerged because they didn't just emerge, it was as a result of the collective wish of our people. We should see every successor as being equal to the task ahead of him or her. We should try as much as possible not enshrined ourselves in the thought that there is no success without a successor. Every successor to me, will achieve success if we give them our support as a people, collectively.
There is no doubt that our expectations as Nigerians are high and so we may be quick to condemnation than prayer to our leaders. I admonish us to understand that Rome was not built in a day and of course, slow and steady wins the race. What has been destroyed over the years is overwhelming compare to what has been put in place in every facet of our Nationhood. There is no point arguing this fact.
During the campaigns, all our grievances are with reasons because we have been pained as a people. We have been deprived to a great deal our right as Nigerians as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as ammended, we have been hurt but if we must move forward, we must realize that, an eye for an eye would make everybody blind. Lessons have been learned and experience have been gathered.
To those candidates that have emerged and those that would be declared in some hours to this time, as a matter of compulsion, i admonish us to do away with the spirit of payback. Let us find a common ground towards ensuring a sustainable growth and development of our Nation and our people.
Above all, no one has won, no one has lost only our Country wins.
Thank you.
God bless The Federal Republic of Nigeria!
God bless Nigerians!
