ARE WE TRULY AN INDEPENDENT NATION AND PEOPLE?

To our imagination we still pride ourselves as being an independent nation but I ask myself daily, are we truly an independent people? Are we truly free from colonial slavery and mental trauma? These are my reasons:
1. Majority of our people in position of power or authority threat and treat others like slave " master/slave relationship". This is most pronounced when approaching a police checkpoints. The way they brandish their AK47 while trying to stop you for a check showed to a greater extent that we are still under self inflicted slavery or better still in the dark.
2. The level of exploitation of our government agency showed to a greater extent the disparity between those who have had a blessing and those who have been cursed.
3. Nigerians struggle daily to make the government listen to them
4. Policies and laws are being forced on us without our thought being sought on such policies and laws before passage by those we elected into position of authority
5. Daily it seems our people love to be in dark as many have lost the sense of their fundamental rights to fear and intimidation
6. Our elected officials are very far from us. Once someone gain political power from d ghetto or slums, the next thing is for you to see him or her living very far from the constituency only to be back during election for another term. What then is the benefit of an inclusive government?
7. Political office holders make laws as they are governing over their family members
8. Many jostle for political position without political and economic ideology and they continued to win election through the vote
9. Politicians see politics as business same way electorates , majority, see it as business and there's always an exchange in mortgaging the people and economic future for the personal benefit of the politicians.
10. Politics and governance isn't about occupying a position but a call to serve the people. Do we know this till now?
