THAT 100LEVEL BOY EXPELLED UNDER PROF OLAYINKA ABEL IDOWU

To forgive is  divvine, to err is human.

I am not one that speaks under the tongue. I believe one must share his mind and be free. I am also not one that go about engaging in public protest either peaceful or not peaceful because i hate gathering of people over a cause whilst few amongst them having dangerous hidden agenda. Permit me to say that ,prof olayinka shares semblance attitude with me 'hard to forgive' but as time goes by,it behoves on one to outgrow such trait as one moves up in status realising that a king without sympathy deserves no honour. This is the challenge being faced by prof olayinka and i pray it doesnt spell doom.

As a student leader during my undergraduate days,i had the opportunity to witness several disciplinary cases at the central level, tough ones indeed and i must say that the vc under whose authority i was a leader really had a lot of sympathy when it comes to using his power. For confidentiality sake and respect to my alma mata,i wont share those cases. I must also state that if it were to be now, myself and many other alumni wouldnt have graduated from unibadan judging by the manner with which the vc uses his power. Is it tedder issue, glory tabernacle,2008 protest and others, agric fracas and different level of allegations at sutc level then? Only God gave us prof Bamiro. I thank God!

As Tedder Hall Chairman, during a faceoff in my 500l,a 100l boy once told me 'chairman just shutup! you dont know what you are saying! if you dont know, you are our servant' I wasnt a vc but by ui approach of first come first serve in establishing a case, one could have been established. If the remark of that boy is compared to the present social media utterances of the 100level boy expelled by prof olayinka despite his parent plea,it is evident that the whole student union imbroglio had been preempted by prof olayinka in order to fulfill his nag against his supposed enemies or opponent. The utterances of the uisu president only created an alibi of opportunity for the vc to slam the big hammer, suspending the union. Such suspension in real sense only portrayed the vc as a very weak personality because as we speak,he supposed to be scolding the students affairs division for their failure. The vc even seem not to understand where his administration is having problem from.

Prof Olayinka in his recent response to an alumnus still went further instead of addressing questions posed to him concerning proferring solution to the present challenges, busy listing his achievements in one year and utter hate of the expelled 100level boy, showing the extent he could go in taking a pound of flesh at this level of his age and accomplishment as humanbeing.
I would rather advised him listen to public opinion on his various decisions thus far instead of patting him at the back on sentiment. He should conduct an opinion poll over his various actions amongst staff, students and the general public and stopped being deceived by the council, senate or students affairs because many are viewing his seat and wishing for his downfall. They will only say what he likes knowing the kind of person he is by his words and reactions. Mr VC sir, dont be deceived,5years is getting very close. Dont let anger destroy your inherent nature of goodwill and pure intention for ui. I for one didnt support your emergence because i wanted change in status quo but only God makes a leader.

Now that you are the vc,i want you to succeed if for nothing but for singular sentiment that you are an ibadan person,if i am not wrong. Already,i am seeing downfall of your administration because in recent time in the 21st century of ui history, this is the poorest administration. You dont have money and you have strenght for fight. What kind of a man does that? I am still baffled by your constant emotional reaction to issues. look at it,in your response to Aloyinlapa semiu kayode, you couldnt even mention just one developmental project in one year but your effort in academics improvement ,yet in one year ui had lost rank in graduates employability and we are still fighting amongst ourselves. Institutional administration is not only about academics, sir ,when our hostels are not worth it. when our roads are bad. when we still carry bucket on the head within a premier university fetching water from indy to zik or tedder to bello. When our roads are filled with potholes. when we cant even provide identity cards paid for by uites in two sessions. Even me,i didnt get identity card paid for in my third semester for m.sc. till date,we still have power supply problem yet we have awba dam in ui. That student union building you locked up sir had had no light for 26days now and its a life saving location for students who are indigent. Even in kenneth dike library, urination and stooling is a big issue talkless faculties and hostels instead,we are making headlines for suspending the student union when in actual sense, the students were only demanding that facilities and infrastructures get an improvement albeit the tension created by the inaugural speech of the uisu president.

Mr vc sir, now that your tenure has been affected by tsa and recession, the option now is endowment funds. Who will donate money there? Is it the same Alumni you have sent their children home on trivial issue as id card. Maybe you dont know sir that you have children, nieces and nephews of our government officials in ui. And to cap it all,our effort out here trying to solicit support for ui has been facing challenges because of the negative impression created thus far.

As one who want you to succeed,i have just two advice for you:
1. Yield to the students demand and give them their union back
2. Implore the student affairs division to stop dragging the student union building, the revenue from the union building with the union. This is the unit thats creating more problem for you than problem solving.

The students are your children. None amongst them hate you even me and every other alumni members. Please, use your power with caution.

God bless UNIBADN.
