THE HYPOCRISY OF NIGERIAN YOUTHS: OUR CHILDREN TOO WILL ASK US WHY?

Image
When in the University as a student's leader, I hated protest with passion because I was of the opinion that: 1. it doesn't bring immediate solution but rather compounding the already existing problem 2. It gives an opportunity to people with ulterior motives to execute and perpetrate their plans 3. Its in most time occurring when other means of settling issues have not been exhaustively utilized and so, I prefer dialogue and continued negotiation whilst judiciously putting my brain on paper with pen. I have never for once hidden this stance and I always embrace criticism from my colleague because that's when I pick my weaknesses most times. This is not to fumble but to pass home a message because there's Nigeria in every microcosm unit of Nigeria. Despite my stance, I do always criticise the University government(Management). Those who knew me then understand that I am saying the truth and of course, a handful of professors and colleagues are my friends ...

NIGERIA STATE OF IMPUNITY, HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSE AND ANTI-CORRUPTION WAR – WHERE WOULD GANI HAVE STOOD?

Image
EBUN-OLU ADEGBORUWA, ESQ. (Being text of paper delivered at the 7th Year Memorial Programme for late Chief Gani Fawehinmi, LL.D, SAN, SAM, on Monday, September 5, 2016 at the International Event Centre, Igbatoro Parliament Road, Alagbaka, Akure, Ondo State) INTRODUCTION It is not surprising to have this discourse at this time, when our dear country is in dire need of leadership. The heroes gone by, in times past, had helped to guide Nigeria right, with their struggles of commitment, selfless sacrifices and nation building. I do humbly urge that we maintain a minute silence in honour of Chief Gani Fawehinmi and all other heroes of our nation. When I was approached to be the Guest Speaker for this occasion, I felt some sense of unease, arising mainly from my personal disenchantment with the community of activists and pro-democracy campaigners, in regard to all the recent ugly developments in our nation, to which they have either directly acquiesced or indirectly encouraged. ...

Senator Dino Melaye Buhari, the barking is over, it's time to bite - Dino Melaye...seeks sack of Udoma, Adeosun, Emefiele Deeply worried by the poor state of the economy which has brought unprecedented hardship and hunger on the masses of the Nigerian people, a federal lawmaker, Senator Dino Melaye (APC Kogi West) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to take urgent and drastic measures, including the immediate sack of three prominent members of his Economic Team as the solution-precedent to reboot the ailing economy. In a Statement in Abuja Sunday, Melaye said the President must shake up his Cabinet, and accused most of the members of gross incompetence, inexcusable ineptitude and a distressing lack of capacity to deliver on the mandate of their ministries/Agencies. Those to face the axe immediately if the economy must be effectively rebooted to deliver on the Change Agenda of the present administration, in the estimation  of Melaye include the Minister of Finance, K...

YOU CANNOT SEPARATE THE E-WALLET FROM THE ATA(AGRICULTURAL TRANSFORMATION AGENDA) OF GEJ.

Image
Boldan Agro Ventures Logo Thank God for the policy reversal just yesterday as hinted to me by a friend.  The e-wallet was an excellent programme of the agricultural transformation agenda that I write excellently about in one of my masters program, precisely a course on policy and economic development with focus on the agric transformation agenda and I was surprised this govt came to cancel it. The ata was so robust a document that was  enough to spare head for the first time in Nigeria's history policy consistency but all in the name of rubbishing gej they wanted to throw it away. This is one of the instrument of trust vice president osinbajo spoke about but not at length. We do not need to operate government with hate and a mentality that the previous government though corrupt , does not have any beautiful policy. I once debated the ata with a friend and brother but he concluded that every policy has target and time bound to exist but does it mean a policy...

Instead of President Buhari seeking "SWEEPING POWERS" to induce the economy towards recovery, can he just listen to Rosaline Fadipe here ehn? Jack Obinyan-Obaseki... you hear?  Rosaline Fadipe 's suggestions - Attn: Jack Obinyan-Obaseki  1. Lower Interest Rates, they have at the beginning of this month, been raised by another 2% that in itself, is spiraling us further into hyper-inflation.....and at the same time lower Uncertainty with Uniform and gradual Policies, as Businesses are sitting on piles of Cash due to our CBN Governor constantly tinkering with our policys and no clear Strategy......and have proper Corporate Tax reform so we can woo foreign Businesses back. 2. Inject money into the Banks(or purpose tailored Funding Institutions) i.e. Quantitative Easing..... as Chino Obasi suggested, but give strict guidelines for Lending and any Bank branch that flouts the guidelines should have its Branch Manager sacked immediately..... 3. Lending preferences sh...
