MY PERCEPTION AND EXPECTATIONS FROM PGEJ'S ADMINISTRATION; OF TRUTH OR HATRED?
In 2010, a particular publication of TELL MAGAZINE was filled with the achievement of General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida during campaign in preparation for 2011 presidential election. While reading through those achievements, my mouth was widely open such that it took me long to realise that I was opening my mouth while reading IBB's achievements in office. But it occur to me that his achievements can't match his abysmality "corruption" which during his regime, was internationalized and gave Nigeria a bad name till date. This conviction lead to the creation of the facebook page" no to IBB presidential ambition" and the campaign was so tensed then and still in the heart of those that knew and every other Nigerians that we can't accept IBB as President.
Today, we have seen a man not even close to the achievement of IBB but share the same abysmality with IBB "corruption". I must say this one is a corruption Caesar. Yet he Is bent on convincing us that what he has done that he called achievement should wipe out our thought that he's corrupt? should wipe out our thought that he can't control the excesses of his wives? should wipe out our thought that he doesn't have an iota of fatherhood towards the over 200 girls abducted by the BH sect which lead to the statement credited to him and his wife that "no girls were abducted" but end up given crumbs of money to the parents as compensation? should wipe out our thought that during a fraudulent immigration exercise, innocent Nigerian graduates lost their lives and their families subjected to unplanned pain? should wipe out our thought that several billion of the future of pensioners was stolen by just a man that was bailed with 750, 0000 naira. And several other atrocities to say the least among most painful experiences of a failed leader on his people.
Should we say that the 256million naira bullet proof bmw cars bought by the aviation minister was worth it as a minister? or should we say the over 10billion naira merigoround and unproductive exercises of the petroleum minister be overlooked? or all the subsidy thieves granted on bail without any meaningful prosecution be forgotten in a hurry? In this same country, our president started the leadership of the nation as president with enough fund to operate with yet we are seriously in debt now and our economy is shaking practically but theoretically prouding itself on a 510billion dollar GDP which is not a veritable index compare to the standard of living index to know a performing nation. This indebtedness became glaring by year end 2014 when many state governors hinged their inability to pay the civil servants on the refusal of the federal government to share allocation. When are we going to be proactive as a leader and as a nation, be productive.
Before anyone start abusing me, let me point to the fact that on this same platform I have pointed to the achievement of PGEJ known to me even with pictorial evidence not Photoshop. Among which is Lagos-ibadan express road whose work is about 35% stage presently because this is a road I ply frequently. Haters don't come and be a vigilante over me o!! Ore-Benin which used to take one Upto 3hours or more is now within 50minutes. Onitsha-owerri express close to control. Owerri boundary to Portharcourt ongoing. Many road projects ongoing in Abuja and Ilorin to kaduna or Ojoo in ibadan to oyo roads are worthy an achievement. My stay in kaduna and gombe also speak well about the president though many said most of the roads I saw in kaduna and gombe were the hand work of the state governors. With all these roads, I bet you, there are so many roads undone though rome was not built in a day.
We have also heard about the transformation in the agric sector even though a former minister of agriculture explained that this figures declared as being spent into agriculture by the government are ridiculous. Be that as it may, let's give the credit to the president that agriculture has grown tremendously in his tenure. Youwin entrepreneur initiative and sure-p programs are also evidently known to me and I know one graduate that work under the sure-p initiative. The war against poverty (wap) for entrepreneur corps member is also there. This is a program that has made many corps member to stand alone as an employer of labour today while feeding comfortably by themselves. I benefited in wap, personally and I'm forever indebted to the FG even though Its a must the government must be criticised objectively to stand on its toes. Even subjective criticism is necessary sometimes in order for one to be given attention on areas that the govt might be reluctant to talk on.
The President also proud himself with new trains and few renovated terminus. But let me ask, why can't the president focus on proper connection of all the rail tracks in the nation to reduce pressure on our roads thereby we won't be wasting our national wealth on road maintenance.
It will also be pertinent to ask that with the huge amount expended only on roads thus far, why haven't the government considering resuscitation of the Nigerian airways and the Nigerian shipping line? Should will call the government various acts a misplaced priorities considering the several wasted billions spent?
On so many occasions I have supported the president against many antagonist because I believe they are not doing even better because the position of the president can't be compare to that of a governor. On so many times I have posted some achievements of the president. So, why do some people always believe that one hates the president. nobody hates him but we just need to tell him about his area of weakness so that he won't relax. So that he will always be on his toes.
The reason behind so many criticism against PGEJ can't be far fetched from the fact that there are so many unsolved corruption cases even the ones that doesn't warrant any debate at all.
Another nag against the president is his unwillingness to tackle the BH boys in all out war. At least we read what president biya of Cameroon is doing to the BH boys. Each time it occurs to many of us that PGEJ is the gcfr, it brings out the devil in one to criticise him the more. Instead of you being the president to honour the dead, you busy launching campaign and dancing. What message are you passing across sir? that our plight doesn't concern you?
As a Nigerian, I believe that for the impact of government effort to be felt on the people the government must embark on all encompassing ventures that will touch larger proportion of the populace. In 2012 January 1st when the government of PGEJ declare a total subsidy removal, many people were against it because of the lack of trust we had in the government and it's playing out now within three years. What has the government done with all the money realised when brent crude was at over $100 dollars? what has been done with the subsidy fund? sure-p? how many lives have sure-p touched? we need explanation. We even hear that it is now partial subsidy but alas! the crude is now below $55.
The president had the biggest opportunity ever to have the people's heart when Brent crude was above $100 but because of greed he chose the other way round. Let me ask, how did president yar adua did it such that we were buying PMS for just N65 and yet he was still paying amnesty? without mincing words we have an extravagant president. A president with eleven fleet of presidential aircraft. That alone is worth for him not to go for second term or third term, somehow! the petrol and kerosene have a direct impact on the common man and that's the major area PGEJ failed totally. Just imagine, how can the FG headed by the president gave out kerosene stove worth billions as austerity measures? what's the rationale behind it? it seems he's seeing us like never do well? May God help his poverty mentality because that step seem to me that PGEJ should be a local government chairman rather than a president.
For us to be happy as a people, let's ask, do we enjoy hygienic water supply in our various homes? Many people dig well or drill borehole so, we are a local government of ourselves. How stable is our power supplies and how functional are the government institutions and apparatus? strike strike everywhere!! How good are our schools and overall how are the civil servants in lower cadre feeling about the government of the day?
Nobody hates PGEJ. All we are saying is that he should do the right thing at the right time and the right way. The truth is written in his heart and he knows it.
Only the truth heals though uneasy lies the head that wears the crown.
God Bless The Federal Republic of Nigeria.
