After spending 3-days in Gbongan Osun State, I discovered that the town needs the state government's attention. It is expedient that I write this because Gbongan town is an entering point to Osun state just like Ikire. On a serious note, Ikire shared almost the same characteristics challenges with Gbongan but its more developed.

I discovered that many of the roads in Gbongan  have not being tarred and about 3months ago there was a wind disaster that pulled off most buildings roof and till now many homes are without roof and its painful seeing families sleeping in a building without roof.

The gigantic fly over under construction by the state government is encouraging but what's the benefit cost ratio of such project if compared to expending such an amount in firstly developing Gbongan town.

I must also be quick to commend the  effort of the Gbongan community association over the successful completion of the Gbongan Town Hall. It was commendable and an effort worthy of note geared towards revenue generation for the community towards development.

One major thing I loved about the town is its road network and landscape. Its environment to me would key in to beautiful developmental plan if embarked upon by the government.

Presently, no single operating financial institution exists in Gbongan town not even a community bank. The only bank, Skye bank, was shut down recently and using a bank ATM would amount to driving about 8km to Ife town to cash money.

I believed many towns and communities suffer this same fate probably due to lack of funds in the state of Osun and I hope that the government can be intuitive about the hidden aesthetics value of these communities to improve the lives of the people.

I don't want to talk about poor state of the primary and secondary school buildings and the glaring unemployment amongst the people  because its a general national problem.

Most of the people are into farming and they do it with passion.

It was awesome being in Gbongan and I pray that what I dislike most doing business with the people shouldn't be evenly spread for another generation.

May God bless Osun State and the people.
