NIGER DELTA MILITANT IS THE NEXT IN LINE TO BE CURTAILED FOR THE WAY FORWARD FOR NIGERIA AFTER BOKO HARAM.
I don't support dialogue with criminals in a nation with laws.- Akande Akin Sanyaolu.
All unregistered association must be curtailed and dialogue with them will only make new ones spring up.
Everyone should obey the law and every agitations should be written and pushed duly through constituted authorities and not through violence.
BH is crushed and any unrecognised group must be crushed without favour, preference and partiality or biases.
The governors and royal fathers in the Niger delta to me, seem to be the major players in the violence agitation in the oil producing region.
Don't get me wrong! The federal government too has its faults especially delaying restructuring and or resource control but in a land with laws, anyone that carries arms against the nation without being a military personnel is a criminal.
All in all, the Niger delta leaders and elders are the major headache to peace in the Niger delta region because many of the agitators who are young men have been turned to political tools in the hands of the politicians and the ethnic leaders/the royal fathers.
I understand that anyone reading this would result to abuse and a feeling of insensitivity but the truth is that I understand the pain of the people of the Niger Delta. I know that their land and water body have been bastardised due to unregulated oil exploration. I know that many have been driven out of their homes due to oil spillage, flood and other environmental degradation. I know that many young people , some graduates are without job. I know that the people have been pained because they have been denied their right to development for many years but an eye for an eye will only make everyone blind. Despite this quote, the Niger Delta region is getting more blind compare to Nigeria as a nation.
Yes, blowing up pipelines would reduce oil revenue and cause economic instability because the oil is the main stay of our economy but in truth the oil contributes only 15% of the whole revenue for Nigeria.
Come to think of it, development takes decades of years to achieve and this is the best time the stakeholders, youth, political leaders and royal fathers of the region need to come together , synergize and fashion a way forward for the region in round table. This is the dialogue not the ones with armed group.
Personally, I am sick and tired of the poverty expanding in the Niger delta and riches and wealth in the hands of the few who are beneficiary of the agitations. Many people have died and many potential scholars like Ken Saro Wiwa have died too. We can't continue like this. The Niger Delta must be developed and this can only be achieved with peace.
Continued destruction of oil facilities and increasing numbers of militant group can't really take the region to the destined future it deserves.
A stitch in time saves nine.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Akande Akin Sanyaolu.
